In 1969, he made aliyah to Israel. He participated in the Yom Kippur War, where he served in the same tank battalion with the future Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Barak. He held senior positions in the “Russian Department” of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel.

Since the 2010s, he has been making political comments on Russian television and radio, mostly participating in Vladimir Solovyov’s shows.

On February 25, 2023, the EU introduced personal sanctions against him for spreading pro-Kremlin propaganda and justifying Russian aggression against Ukraine."
